Intelligent mobility since 1974

Solutions for smart cities

Traffic control, ITS and parking technology engineered, integrated and supported by Canadian specialists.

Who we are

Engineering the movement of vehicles and people with measurable results

Electromega specifies, supplies, integrates and services the field equipment and software that keep intersections, corridors and parking facilities safe and efficient. Our engineers work daily with municipal signal technicians, transportation departments, consultants and parking operators — which is why our recommendations are based on installed performance data, not brochures.

1974 Year founded

Five decades of field experience across Canadian climates, from –40 °C winters to salt-loaded coastal corridors, applied to every product recommendation we make.

3 Regional offices

Head office in Candiac (Quebec) plus branches in Ontario and British Columbia, delivering local stock, on-site commissioning and bilingual technical support.

9001 ISO certification

Our quality management system has been ISO 9001 certified since 2003 and is realigned with each new revision of the standard — documented traceability on every order.

20+ Technology partners

Authorized representation for leading ITS and parking manufacturers, giving buyers vendor-neutral comparisons instead of a single-brand answer.

Core expertise

Three specializations, one integrated mobility ecosystem

Each practice combines hardware, communications and software so data captured in the field becomes an operational decision in the control room.

Industries served

Built around how each buyer actually works

A municipal signal shop, a ministry corridor program and a private parking operator each measure success differently. Select a profile to see how we adapt scope, documentation and support.

Cities and municipalities

Corridor retiming, accessible pedestrian upgrades and winter-resilient detection that reduce delay and collision risk while fitting municipal capital cycles and maintenance capacity.

Why buyers choose Electromega

Experience you can verify, documentation you can submit

Procurement teams need more than a catalogue. These are the practical advantages our clients cite when a project has to pass engineering review, inspection and audit.

01

Standards-first specification

Every quotation identifies the applicable NEMA, ATC, NTCIP, ITE or CSA reference, so consultants can validate compliance without a second round of questions.

02

Vendor-neutral engineering

Because we represent more than twenty manufacturers, we compare radar against video or loop detection on site conditions and life-cycle cost, not brand loyalty.

03

Cabinet assembly & testing

Controllers, monitors and auxiliary equipment are integrated, wired and bench-tested before shipment, cutting intersection turn-on time and field troubleshooting.

04

Lifecycle support

Warranty administration, bench repair, spare-part programs, firmware guidance and operator training keep assets serviceable long after commissioning.

Project methodology

From site assessment to long-term serviceability

A repeatable, documented process is what keeps deployments on schedule and inspection-ready.

1. Assess & benchmark

We review geometry, volumes, existing cabinets, power, communications backhaul and maintenance resources. Winter performance, sightlines and mounting constraints are documented before any product is proposed.

2. Specify & document

You receive a bill of material with standards references, wiring diagrams, photometric data, warranty terms and submittal sheets — the package consultants and inspectors ask for.

3. Integrate & commission

Cabinets are assembled and bench-tested, controllers are pre-configured, detection is calibrated on site and central integration is verified over NTCIP before turn-on.

4. Support & optimize

Training, remote diagnostics, spare-parts planning and periodic performance reviews extend asset life and keep timing plans aligned with changing demand.

Buyer questions

Technical answers before you request documentation

The questions our engineering team answers most often from municipalities, consultants, contractors and international buyers.

Our traffic cabinets, controllers and signal heads are supplied to recognized North American specifications: NEMA TS-1 / TS-2 and ATC controller architectures, NTCIP 1202/1203 for central system interoperability, ITE and CSA photometric requirements for LED signal modules, and MUTCD-aligned signing practice. Provincial requirements such as MTO and MTQ specifications are addressed project by project, and the applicable reference is stated on the quotation.

Yes. Beyond our Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia operations, our engineering and technical sales teams prepare submittal packages, wiring diagrams, bills of material and compliance documentation used by consultants, contractors and international buyers evaluating ITS and parking technology for their own markets.

Selection depends on the data you need and the site you have. Inductive loops remain the benchmark for stop-bar presence where pavement can be cut. Radar performs well for advance detection, speed and volume in snow, fog and low light. Video analytics adds classification, turning-movement counts and visual verification. Magnetometers suit bridge decks or pavement where saw-cutting is restricted. We evaluate mounting height, sightlines, occlusion, power and communications before recommending a single technology or a hybrid layout.

Yes. We deploy NTCIP-compliant controllers, hardened field Ethernet switches and cellular or point-to-point wireless backhaul so new intersections, dynamic message signs and detection stations report into your existing ATMS, parking guidance platform or open-data dashboard — protecting your current software investment.

We provide factory-backed warranty administration, bench repair, spare-parts programs, commissioning assistance, remote diagnostics on networked devices and hands-on training for signal technicians, ITS operators and parking staff. Service records are maintained under our ISO 9001 quality management system.

In most cases, yes. We stage deployments lane by lane — for example introducing licence plate recognition and occupancy sensors first, then terminals and barriers — so revenue collection and traffic flow continue while the new architecture is validated against your reporting requirements.
